Stock Market Today Indian shares opened steadily higher, as bulls appeared to be buying shares with renewed vigour after a day’s consolidation. The BSE Sensex was up 0.30 percent, or 74 points, to 28,237 while the NSE Nifty opened 0.17 percent, or 14 points, higher to 8,442. Capital goods, power, oil and pharma stocks have moved higher. The Sensex, which rose to 28,294.01, is currently up 70.23 points or 0.25% at 28,233.52. In Mcx Gold rose to a two-week high on Thursday, extending its daily winning streak to four, as safe-haven buying increased after US equities tumbled on concerns over the pace of economic growth. Bullion's four-day rise marked its longest winning streak in seven months. Platinum was down 0.1 per cent at $1,272.25 an ounce, while palladium dropped 0.6 per cent to $794.72 an ounce. Spot gold rose to its highest since Sept. 23 at $1,233.20 an ounce early on Thursday and was trading up 0.3 per cent at $1,225.10.Gold's rise was limited as the dollar rose and Brent crude oil futures broke below $90 a barrel.Silver rose 0.3 per cent to $17.39 an ounce. It hit its weakest level since March 2010 at $16.66 on Monday. Crude oil prices eased in early Asia on Friday as investors awaited fresh cues on demand prospects. On the New York Mercantile Exchange, West Texas Intermediate crude oil for delivery in November traded at $84.69 a barrel, down 0.08%, after hitting an overnight session low of $86.25 a barrel and a high of $87.94 a barrel.
